Looking for Angels?

Need pictures of angels, statues, eagles, flowers, ceramic pots, or flags for remembering someone special?

If you're not afraid of the cemetery, you'll find all kinds of objects there that have been left to decorate the space of a loved one. I'm pretty sure that the people that left them there are not going to object to you cleaning the dust off of them and photographing them.

How to to turn a circle into a
plate using Photoshop

circle pattern before and after

Start by selecting a paper that you like or use the art included in the below FREE download. This plate was made using 8.5"x8.5" by 200 dpi by cutting a circle out of a 12x12 paper. Results will vary depending on size and color. I have created 2 styles that will take the circle and add the bevel and emboss to create a plate.

Download the paper and styles.

Note: Styles were created in Adobe Photoshop CS1 and may not work in other versions.

Start by opening a paper or use the flowerpower provided. Use the circle marquee and cut a circle out of the paper. Copy the circle to a new transparent document. Keep the size close to 8.5"x8.5" by 200 dpi. Load the styles. Under layers duplicate the circle 2 times. There will be 3 circles. Select yellow style 1 for layer in the middle and then yellow style 2 on the top. Make adjustments as necessary.

To flatten the plate so that you can stack them up link the layers and merge so that the plate is only 1 layer on a transparent background. Use the transform scale distort and pull the image from the middle straight down until it looks like below.

When testing the styles I noticed that they defaulted to a 120 degree angle and it is supposed to be -117. The altitude needed to be changed to 42. Using different art you will have to change the shadow color. Below is a sample of the kinds of changes that might need to be adjusted.

Note: You may need to change the contour curve to suit the curve of your image.
